Atul Lakhani, CEO and managing director of Sanjay Foods, has been awarded the Pride of India award at the prestigious NRI World Summit.
Lakhani and his company were recognised for their professional, creative, innovative and forward-thinking contribution to the hospitality industry in the UK.
“I feel both honoured and privileged to be recognised at such a prestigious award ceremony, especially as the recognition comes from literally the other side of the world,” said Mr Lakhani.
The NRI (Non Resident Indians) Board is a non-profit organisation which aims to connect NRI’s across the globe and provide a platform for Indian’s living in India and abroad. The awards ceremony, which was held at the House of Lords, was hosted by Lord Diljit Rana MBE, the president of the Global Organisation Of People Of Indian Origin.
The event was organised by Manu Jagmohan Singh this year and was titled “How to Change a Life” and honoured social sector leaders, global thinkers, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, journalists and academics for their contribution in creating a stronger and better local community.
The City of Leicester had a strong presence at this year’s awards with Entrepreneur Don Kotak, Financial Services Executive Bijna Dasani, Civic Leader Resham Singh Sandhu, Businessman Vic Sethi and Publisher Romail Gulzar all recognised for their contribution.
Now in its 16th year, Sanjay Foods have won many national accolades including: the Best Caterer in the Midlands at the British Asian Wedding Awards in 2015 and the Regional Caterer of the Year at the Asian Business Awards 2016. As well as being runners up for the Caterer of the Year at the Midlands Asian Wedding Awards in 2016.
